Want a quick and easy thrift flip?! I’ve got you covered. This project was one of my favorite projects to complete – mostly because it was so easy.
I found an inexpensive stool at my local thrift store that had beautiful lines. The wood color was perfect, and I knew I could easily remove the existing cushion (sorry, no photo of it!). This is my number one tip for quick thrift flips – find a piece that doesn’t need much, or any, resurfacing. Find something that has elements you already love, and that will take minimal effort to transform the look.
Here’s what I did:
- Remove the existing cushion from the wood frame. The before version of this stool had a foam cushion with some woven webbing that was super easy to remove with scissors.
- Use some sturdy yarn, crochet cord, scrap fabric strips etc. to wrap around the frame. I found this hand-wound wool yarn on Facebook Marketplace for under $20.
- I wrapped the yarn in an “under, over” pattern across each side of the stool until I covered the whole top.
- Knot the wool yarn at the end, and voila!
Now, I must say this little stool is quite sturdy – not enough to stand on – but enough to use to prop your feet up, or for your toddler to sit on.
I hope you enjoyed this DIY as much as I did!
